BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Performance (Dance)

Equivalent to one A Level

This is a two year Dance course which is equivalent to one A Level, with the same amount of UCAS points for university or further education.

This is a vocational training course recognised by UCAS for those thinking about going on to study Dance, Musical Theatre, Drama or Performing Arts at university but also supports applications for other courses.

Please note that this course cannot be combined with BTEC Musical Theatre.

What does the course involve?

This course will have practical elements with many performance opportunities. Parts of the course have elements of written work. This will be through research, log books and evaluations.

The course is designed to enhance any dance style, such as:

  • Ballet
  • Contemporary
  • Modern
  • Jazz

As this is a BTEC qualification, the work is assessed throughout the two years. Final grades awarded will be Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*.

• Jazz Dance Technique
• Choreography for Live Performance
• Contemporary Dance Technique

Resources and facilities

Lessons will take place in a purpose built Dance Studio.

Trips

There are regular trips to Birmingham Hippodrome and London.
Dance specialists also visit College and students will participate in workshops.

This practical course is ideal preparation for a course or career in the performing arts.
