Hereford Sixth Form College Alumni and Staff Unite in Breakout Band YUNGOLD Debut EP Release

YŪNGOLD, a rising force in the UK’s alternative rock scene, has just released their blistering debut EP Force of Habit—and it comes with a strong Hereford Sixth Form College connection. The four-piece shoegaze/alt rock outfit includes two former students, Oscar Featherstone and Ash Greenway, and three current staff members: Oscar (Theatrical technical director and music academy coordinator), Ash (IT Network and Systems Manager), and vocal & music academy tutor Frank Mooney.
Formed quietly in late 2023, YŪNGOLD made an immediate impact with a genre-defying live debut at Hereford’s indie hub The Jam Factory in May 2024. By July, they were back to record four tracks for the venue’s Live From The Little Green Room sessions. The resulting video, released in October, caught fire on YouTube and across streaming platforms, praised for its raw emotion and explosive cohesion.
Music promoters have taken notice, too. Underground Sound lauded the band’s “iconic yet 100% unique” sound and called them “a perfect storm of songwriting, performance, and dedication.”
With deep roots in Hereford Sixth Form College and a fierce commitment to their craft, YŪNGOLD is poised to become one of the UK’s most exhilarating new acts and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work!
