More Success for Maths Students

Students at Hereford Sixth Form College achieved a terrific success in this year’s annual UK Mathematics Trust Senior Mathematics Challenges.
The UK Mathematics trust is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. It organises national mathematics competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for UK students.
The Senior Maths Challenge is the first of these competitions, and is aimed at those who are studying up to A-level. Approximately 4000 of the top scorers from this competition are invited to sit one of the follow-on competitions: The Senior Kangaroo or the even more prestigious British Mathematical Olympiad.
This year, Hereford Sixth Form College achieved 49 Bronze awards, 29 Silver awards and 16 Gold awards from the Senior Mathematics Challenge.
Of the 16 top scorers, 9 qualified for and participated in the Senior Kangaroo competition, with one student achieving the illustrious Merit award.
Three of our students qualified for the British Mathematical Olympiad, the hardest and most elite of competitions, with one student achieving a Distinction award – an amazing feat!
Well done to all those who took part in the Senior Mathematics Challenge, the Senior Kangaroo and the British Mathematical Olympiad, and an extra congratulations to our award winners. The College is mighty proud of you!
