The College is only open to our most vulnerable students (including those on EHCPs, or who are in care or have a social worker) and the children of key workers. All lessons will continue to run virtually for all students. The College opens at 9am. Please notify us before 10.30am if you wish to access the College past 12 noon so we can ensure facilities and access are available. College Hosts University Masterclass Day

Posted on 2nd February 2018

On 25th January, the College hosted a large group of academics from Aberystwyth University in a programme of subject extension masterclasses. Individual departments benefitted from interactive workshops delivered by experts in their respective fields.

The range of subjects covered was remarkable. The Politics Department had a workshop called In Trump's shadow: Change and continuity in US politics; the English Department a workshop on the novel Frankenstein; Law, an Omissions and Criminal Liability workshop; Business, workshops on both Marketing and Finance and the Languages Department had workshops in translation in Spanish, French and German.

These sessions form a valuable experience for students in two main ways. Firstly, they enable a “taster” of subjects before making important Higher Education subject choices and secondly, they provide real academic extension and evidence for university applications; something important in an increasingly competitive market.

After a successful day, we are looking to make the event an annual fixture for the benefit of students for years to come.
