Improving Your GCSEs

Hereford Sixth Form College offers a one year GCSE programme for students wishing to improve their grades.

The course consists of a range of subjects especially chosen to allow you to retake English and Mathematics if necessary but also to take new subjects which are designed to prepare you for future A level or vocational courses.

You can study four or five subjects from:

  • Business Studies
  • Dance
  • English
  • Geography
  • Health & Social Care
  • Latin*
  • Leisure & Tourism
  • Mathematics
  • Psychology
  • Russian*
  • Science
  • Spanish*

(All students on the programme study English and/or Mathematics if they have not gained at least a C grade.)

In addition to the enrichment opportunities offered to all students, the College provides careers guidance, tutorials and confidence-building activities specifically aimed at our GCSE students.

All students have access to specialist Learning Support which could be one-to-one or small group tutoring.

The College has a national reputation for the quality of its work with students who wish to improve their GCSE grades. Pass rates are significantly above those achieved by students who retake in other institutions.

On completion of the course, students continue with education or training or gain employment.
