GCSE Psychology

Why are some people more aggressive than others? How can we explain prejudice and discrimination? What causes differences in male and female behaviour? Why do people conform to group pressure?

If you are interested in finding answers to questions like these you should find Psychology interesting. It will help you to understand different views and the explanations which have been suggested to answer questions such as these. Although there is no coursework for this subject students will have experience of designing and conducting informal classroom research using a variety of methods. You will be expected to analyse and display the data collected in these investigations.

Qualifications

We assume no previous knowledge of Psychology. However, you should be interested in people's behaviour. You also need to be able to write clearly.

Study Visits / Fieldwork

These are not a regular part of this course.

After the Course

GCSE Psychology is a good foundation for study of this subject at AS / A2 and beyond. It is a subject which will be useful in most careers.
