Prospective Students: Our Courses

GCSE Health & Social Care (Double Award)

student taking part in Health & Social Care (Double Award)

There are many different things that can affect your health and wellbeing, from your work life to a balanced diet. You will learn to recognise and measure poor health factors, how to put these right, and how these factors change and develop with age. You will learn how to measure indicators of health such as blood pressure using monitors and the health of people's lungs using a peak flow meter. Additionally you will examine the complex world of health and social care providers, what services are available to different client groups and how these services meet clients' needs.

While this is a vocationally-focused course you need to be aware that two thirds of the assessment is through coursework which requires academic writing.

We assume no previous knowledge of Health & Social Care. However, you should be interested in learning more about the health and social care sector.

Study Visits / Fieldwork

Some students will visit care providers for the purpose of their coursework.
