GCSE Business Studies

This course seeks to develop your awareness and understanding of business activities and the commercial community to which you belong, both nationally and locally. The course also introduces you to the setting up and operation of small businesses and to issues faced by businesses as they grow. You will also have the opportunity to plan a new business venture in your local area, considering the type of customer it will appeal to, the location and the cost of the new venture. You will study four key areas of business including marketing, operations, human resources and finance.
Qualifications
We assume no previous knowledge of Business Studies and you do not need to have studied the subject at school. An interest in the world of business and commerce would, of course, be an advantage to you.
Study Visits / Fieldwork
There may be opportunities within the course to visit local businesses and speak to local entrepreneurs about starting up a small business. There will also be an opportunity to undertake some primary market research to aid in planning a new business venture in your local area.
After the Course
Some students continue onto AS studies while others go directly into employment or employment-related study or training.
