Prospective Students: Our Courses

AS/A Level Physics

student taking part in Physics

At its heart, Physics is about understanding the world around us.

The course covers topics ranging from the structure of matter and evidence for light behaving as a particle, to explaining such things as how air bags reduce injuries in car accidents and why different instruments, playing the same note, do not sound the same.

Whenever possible, animations and practical investigations are used to support and develop the concepts covered in lessons.

Qualifications

B grades or above in both Science and Additional Science (or in two separate sciences, including Physics) are normally required. Grade B (or better) in Maths is also required, and you will be expected to pass a simple Maths test in the first week of the course. You do not have to take AS Maths, but it helps.

Study Visits / Fieldwork

Although there are no study visits, the department invites speakers in to visit the College.
