AS/A Level Photography
The Photography course encourages you to pursue the subject in both a creative and academic way. Work in Photography forms a means of personal expression involving the selection and manipulation of images. You will be encouraged to employ creative approaches which go beyond mere observation and recording and become individual interpretations of what is seen and understood. You will be introduced to a variety of processes, techniques and approaches to the subject which will encourage your progession towards creative independence. You will learn skills in digital and film based lens work, still and 'moving' image creation and a variety of handcrafted traditional techniques and processes. Your assignments will include experimentation, research and critical evaluation, with highly personal responses reflecting your commitment and enjoyment of the discipline. Through these creative investigations you will develop a greater understanding of the role of photography within society and the importance of the photograph as a cultural artefact.
