Prospective Students: Our Courses

AS/A Level Latin

Latin encourages you to communicate clearly and effectively and to appreciate Latin literature in its cultural context and original language. Latin develops a sensitive and analytical approach to language generally, including an awareness of the relationship between Latin and the languages of today.

Qualifications

To succeed at A level it is important to like reading and to have an interest in how language works. You will need at least a grade B in GCSE Latin and English, as well as a genuine level of interest in, and commitment to, the Latin language.

Study Visits / Fieldwork

It is very likely that you will be encouraged to take part in a (residential) study visit, but as this is a new course, this has yet to be determined.

After the Course

Students looking to go on to study Law, Medicine, Philosophy, Mathematics, Classics, Archaelogy, Modern Languages and Theology will find the study of Latin particularly useful.
