AS/A Level Computing

You will learn about all the components of a computer system (hardware and software), how they work and how they are used. You will do a lot of practical work, gaining skills in using modern software and in particular in learning to write useful, working computer programs in Visual Basic.
Qualifications
You need no prior knowledge or experience of Computing, although previous success in problem-solving activities, such as Mathematics coursework, is a recommendation. Above all, enthusiasm, patience and determination are essential in becoming a successful programmer - which is likely to be the most challenging, as well as the most rewarding, aspect of the course.
Study Visits / Fieldwork
Whilst this course is College-based, in your A2 studies you will be expected to liaise with an external business/organisation for completion of coursework.
After the Course
A large proportion of our students go on to pursue a computer related course in higher education. These courses range widely in their academic depth and entry requirements. Some students prefer to seek employment in the continually expanding IT industry.
