AS/A Level Business Studies

This course helps you to develop a number of skills: how to assemble data and assess it; how to investigate facts and use deduction; how to put over your point of view fluently and how to work as a team to achieve results.

In the first year you will have two main learning topics: Planning and Financing a Business and Managing a Business. In the second year you will build on the knowledge base from the AS course with two other main learning topics: Strategies for Success and The Business Environment and Change.

Qualifications

This course starts from scratch and assumes no previous knowledge of Business Studies. All students who fulfil the College entry requirements can study the subject.

Study Visits / Fieldwork

You will be offered a range of visits and enrichment activities throughout the course which could involve visits to local and national businesses and potentially a visit to a major European city in the second year.

After the Course

Many successful students go on to read for business-related higher education courses. These include Accountancy, Management Science, Leisure Management and Marketing. Business courses incorporating a foreign language have become popular in recent times. Other students have made use of their studies in a wide variety of employment situations and the course provides a strong foundation for those planning to work in a family business such as farming.
