GCSE English

The GCSE English course offers opportunities for developing the Complementary Studies of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Qualifications

You will normally have taken GCSE English at your secondary school, although this is not always the case. To retake the subject in November you must have gained a D grade in a previous GCSE English examination and have completed your coursework folder to at least a grade C standard. Otherwise, you will work towards an examination at the end of the year.

Study Visits / Fieldwork

You are encouraged to take part in appropriate theatre trips and workshops. A practical approach to Shakespeare texts is also encouraged.

After the Course

GCSE English at C grade or above is a core requirement for the majority of higher education courses and also for many careers.
