2010-11 Courses
BTEC First Certificate in Sport

This course is designed to allow you to further your understanding of sports performance and is focused on the factors which need to be investigated if performance is going to be improved.
Qualifications
We assume no previous knowledge of human anatomy and sport performance and you do not need to have studied Physical Education at school. An interest in practical performance and an enquiring mind would be extremely useful.
The course is assessed through 100% coursework and as there are no examinations you will need to be prepared to work hard and, of course, to aim for 100% attendance.
Modules
You will study three units which on completion equate to two GCSE passes.
BTEC Modules
- Body in Sport
- Practical Sport
- Preparation for Sport
After the Course
Assuming you have the appropriate GCSE profile, you will be able to progress onto the National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Sciences or onto an AS course. You would also be able to go directly into sport- and leisurerelated employment.
