AS/A Level History - Modern

student taking part in History - Modern

History is about people in the past. It provides the fundamental framework for all our actions, both as individuals and as members of the wider community. ‘A society without History is like a man without a memory’ - lost and confused. Come and find your bearings by studying this subject! At A level, History is a problem-solving subject. You will use your knowledge - based upon evidence gleaned from books, your tutor, the Internet, etc. - to write essays which will help to elucidate the great issues of the past.

Qualifications

It is useful to have a GCSE in History but many students take up the subject for the first time at this level. You will need to have good essay-writing skills.

Being about real people in real situations, History provides an excellent foundation for higher education and for all those careers that involve people.
