AS/A Level Art & Design (Fine Art)

Emphasis is on developing an understanding of the role of Art in society and for the individual. You will follow a broadly-based practical course which allows you to work with many different materials and which leads to an endorsement in Fine Art. The Department has two studios and is equipped for painting, printmaking and mixed media work, providing many opportunities to develop your skills and interests through experimentation and practice.

Qualifications

You should have a C grade or above in GCSE Art, Textiles or Design or a keen interest in Art.

AS Modules & A2 Modules

  • Coursework (AS/A2)
  • Exam/Controlled Assignment (AS/A2)

Study Visits / Fieldwork

Visits are made to local and national exhibitions and in the second year there is a study visit abroad.

After the Course

Many of our students go on to the Art Foundation course at Hereford College of the Arts and then on to a very wide range of specialist Art courses in higher education.
